The article I read was about a French chef, Michel Bras, who created a salad-like dish that uses 50 to 60 ingredients. The dish changes daily based upon what vegetables, leaves, fruits, and flowers are available in the market and the chef's personal garden.
The inspiration for the colorful dish came in 1978 while Bras was running in the French countryside while the fields and mountains were in full bloom. "It was beautiful, it was rich, it was marvelous," he remembers. "I decided to try to translate the fields."
It was that last quote, not necessarily the food, that struck me about the article. I found it inspirational that there are artists out there who are struck by things in everyday lives and then translate that moment of inspiration into their art. And, I would gladly eat a gargouillou!
